VOLUNTEER
Each of our in country volunteers will be required to participate in 6 weeks of online group discussions which include Rwandan culture, a brief overview of trust based relational interventions (the model of care we use with our students), planning out the schedule and activities for students while in country and general space for Q/A.
Teams will help staff collect grade cards and letters as well as distribute care packages from sponsor families.
All teams stay in Kigali, with the last night at Akagera National Park for a team de-briefing and opportunity for a real African safari.
Trip costs are all inclusive. Travel insurance is included.
APRIL
April is the month of mourning in Rwanda as the anniversary and remembrance of the Genocide of 1994. Although most of our students were not alive during the genocide, they attribute it to the struggles they face day to day. The generational and complex trauma impacts everyone.
Our April team is for those trained in trauma care, counseling, mental health, art, music therapists and educators. This team will provide support to our teachers, foster families and our students as well.
Activities on this trip include themes such as self care, forgiveness, the grief process and healing art,music and play.

SUMMER
Our Summer 2024 team is forming and we have a spot for you! Summer teams are great for first-time international travelers, groups, and students. Here at Imana Kids, we desire for each of our students to be SEEN and KNOWN. We are also committed to doing missions differently: if it’s a job that we can hire a local to do, we want to boost the economy in Rwanda and get the job done right. If it’s a service that’s needed but unavailable, we want to fill that gap.
This team typically provides day camp/VBS and FUN for our kids who don’t have families to go home to on holidays, so if you can listen to stories, hold hands, read a book or just play, we’ve got a spot for you. Our team also provides life skills workshops, hygiene classes, resume building and mock job interviews. We’ll also spend time at Hope Village and see the progress toward our vision of a school, clinic and church all investing in the wellbeing of our kids.

DECEMBER
Our holiday team is a great time for sponsors to meet their sponsor students! Attending school celebrations for grade cards, delivering care packages, helping gather back-to-school supplies and celebrating the holidays with our community of foster families is on the agenda for this team.
